Family Bicycle Ride Fund Raiser for the Solar Walk

  • We are raising money to create a permanent outdoor exhibit, a solar walk.  A solar walk is a scaled down model of our solar system.  It gives the participants the opportunity to walk or drive from the sun to Pluto.  Through this experience, participants gain a better understanding of the  earth’s location in and the immense size of the solar system.
  • We are holding a family bicycle ride/run/walk in Starkey Wilderness Park on Saturday, November 27, 2010 .  Participants will go down the trail that leads from the park to the Suncoast Trail and then back.  We will use the solar walk idea along the route.  Signs will be posted showing the where solar bodies are in our scaled down solar system, from the sun to Pluto.  Pre-registered riders will be provided with a t-shirt and the option of having dinner, by Garden of Eden catering.  After the ride, Pasco County’s Astronomy Club is hosting a star gazing event, open to the riders as well as the public.
  • For a donation of $20, cyclists will receive a t-shirt, rest stop refreshments and dinner.
  • For a donation of $50, a family of up to five cyclists will receive t-shirts, rest stop refreshments and dinner.
  • For a donation of $15, cyclists will receive a t-shirt and rest stop refreshments.
